Job summary

Ramos CS, now part of Colliers Engineering & Design, seeks a Field Engineer to support the Willow Rock Energy Storage Center project in Kern County, California. The role is on-site full-time, performing daily inspections, documentation, and QA/QC support across four turbine trains, thermal storage systems, and interconnection infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has 4–7 years in geotechnical/inspection/land development, a Civil Engineering degree, and preferably a PE/EIT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 4–7 years of geotechnical/inspection/land development experience.
• Ability to be on-site 100% of the time.
• Strong knowledge of construction documents, plans and specs.
• English reading/writing proficiency.
• PE license or EIT preferred.
• Experience on heavy industrial/energy/utility-scale projects.
• Cal OSHA 30-hour Construction training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily field inspections of construction activities, verifying conformance with plans, specifications, and project quality standards.
• Perform or oversee geotechnical field testing, including soil compaction and earthwork verification.
• Document field conditions, discrepancies, and construction progress through daily reports.
• Support land development activities including grading, drainage, and site utility oversight.
• Coordinate with contractors and engineering staff to resolve field issues and respond to RFIs.
• Maintain field records, photos, and inspection logs.
• Promote a Safety First approach on site.
• Support QA/QC processes for materials and installed work.
