Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager to lead and motivate a team in day-to-day management of safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, risk, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relations/management, field staff and other duties to execute Design-Only, EPC, Construction Management, Construction, and Program Management projects.

The Project Manager leads projects from inception to completion and may perform the role of EPC Project Manager or Program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, construction management or related degree from accredited program with 7 years applicable experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, and to work overtime on short notice.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with owners, contractors, engineers and designers in a multi-disciplinary project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
  • Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of multi-discipline engineering projects from concept to completion, including safety, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, environmental compliance, project controls, and public/community relations.
  • Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple disciplines, and ensure efficient, cost-effective staff utilization.
  • Manage all aspects of project communication.
  • Lead the PM team in RFP package development, bid/selection, and scope of work documents.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control costs.
  • Serve as primary client contact for coordination, planning, budgeting, subcontracting, staffing, environmental compliance and schedule attainment.
  • Manage review, negotiation, approval and execution of prime/subcontracts and change orders.
  • Lead risk reviews with Risk Department as required.
  • Manage internal/external reports with detailed cost forecasts and accruals for clients and leadership.
  • Oversee project controls: cost reporting, scheduling, WBS, setup/closeout in accounting system, field progress tracking.
  • Monitor progress and provide direction to improve schedules, productivity, budgets, quality, and profitability.
  • Responsible for contract closeout activities.
  • Develop new business by cultivating client relationships.
  • Adhere to safety programs and promote safety across the team and subcontractors.
  • Participate in industry conferences/committees.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced staff.
  • QA/QC adherence and compliance with company/site policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
