Job summary

The role partners with the EHS Manager and cross-functional teams to sustain safe operations, investigate incidents, and drive corrective actions. Evening and weekend availability may be required for training and coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 5+ years of EH&S experience.
• 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing-related setting (food ingredient manufacturing preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships across departments and locations.
• Knowledge of environmental, health & safety regulations at local, state and federal levels.
• Flexibility to work 2nd and 3rd shift and travel 2–5 days/month.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze and mitigate hazards.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site environmental, health and safety support for the Chicago, IL site.
• Interpret federal, state and local requirements and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop localized policies and programs for site-specific safety requirements.
• Investigate incidents and address root causes with stakeholders.
• Complete routine inspections, reports and training while maintaining records.
• Conduct hazard assessments and job safety analyses.
• Coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead an employee safety committee.
• Coordinate exposure monitoring and medical surveillance testing.
• Collaborate with management to foster a culture of safety.
• Execute internal audits and report findings for all Synergy US locations.
• Draft and submit required environmental reports for all locations.
