Job summary

Knife River seeks an onsite EHS Manager to lead project safety on a high-profile Treasure Valley/Boise ID site. The role ensures OSHA, MSHA, DOT compliance and drives safety programs across job sites and shops. 5+ years in safety plus CSP/CIH/CHST or a relevant 4-year degree are required.

Responsibilities include incident investigations, data reporting, training coordination, and daily safety inspections, with a focus on eliminating injuries and losses on site.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in construction safety and 3 years in safety program management.
• OSHA 30 & OSHA 500 trained and certified.
• Direct exposure to health and safety programs and regulatory agencies.
• Experience developing site and operational safety plans and JHA's.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Frequent presence on jobsites and shops with a proactive attitude.

• Coordinate safety and training programs as required.

Job Summary

This is a project specific position and is responsible for the jobsite safety requirements for a high profiles project in Tresure Valley/ Boise ID. Continued employment is not guaranteed at the conclusion of reference project contract. Applicants must have 5 years of professional safety role experience, proficient in developing, coordinating and documenting the company & job specific safety programs aimed at reducing and/ or eliminating occupational injuries, illnesses and financial losses at project, and operational levels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collects accident information and reviews incident investigations.
2. Manages tracking software, where applicable, for accurate and timely safety data input and management.
3. Generates weekly and monthly incident and safety reports.
4. Looks for ways to reduce accidents, improve safety, and champion Knife Rivers I Choose Safety culture.
5. Schedules and monitors random and DOT drug screens and physicals.
6. Coordinate and administer DOT regulations in conjunction with Human Resources and Operations (where applicable).
7. Evaluates technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participates in activities of related organizations to update knowledge of safety program development.
8. Coordinates communications between shops, sites and safety office.
9. Investigates motor vehicle citations and motor vehicle accidents.
10. Assists with accident scene investigations and clean up.
11. Coordinates safety and training programs as required.
12. Ensure MSHA, OSHA, DOT regulatory compliance.
13. Works closely with field personnel and peers.
14. Actively participates in incident review with operations.
15. Files records and other documentation.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
17. Conducts regular safety inspections on Jobsites, Plants and Shops.
18. Assists Safety Manager with company required programs such as Respiratory Protection, forklift certifications and hearing conservation among others.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must have a Professional recognized certification (EG: CSP, CIH. CHST) or have a 4-year degree from an accredited university in the field of safety engineering or have demonstrated an equivalent level of qualifications and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction safety and 3 years of Safety Program Management experience.
2. OSHA 30 & OSHA500 Trained and certified.
3. Direct professional exposure to industry health and safety programs, regulatory government agencies and/ or similar organizations and/ or significant operational experience with a strong focus/record on safety.
4. Experience developing site and operational specific safety plans and Job Hazzard Analysis (JHA’s).
5. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
7. Be frequently present on jobsites, mine sites and shops with a great attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Strong working knowledge of health and safety regulations related to construction materials industry
2. Post secondary education or BA/Degree in Construction Safety or Mining Safety, Construction or equivalent experience.
3. General knowledge of insurance and financial matters related to health and safety programs.
4. Working knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet or presentation software.
5. Working knowledge of construction materials equipment and operations.
6. Certified trainer or significant experience in training.
