Job summary

Workforce Solutions is partnering with a family-owned manufacturing company to hire a Design Engineer/Product Designer for their Madison, WI site. You will own the full design lifecycle from concept through production, translating ideas into finished products seen in retail environments.

The ideal candidate will prototype and model parts, produce clear drawings and BOMs, and collaborate across teams to ensure designs are buildable and efficient.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Blender or other 3D modeling tools is a plus.
• Ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings and BOMs.
• Self-starter who can manage projects independently.
• Strong organizational and file management skills.
• Solid communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts.
• ERP system experience (such as Odoo) is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, design, or fabrication environment preferred.
• Recent technical graduates with strong portfolios are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer needs into design concepts, from initial sketches to detailed models.
• Create 3D models, technical drawings, and BOMs for production.
• Manage design projects including file organization, version control, and documentation.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
• Support process improvements and adoption of new tools.
• Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and team workflows.
