Job summary

Xcimer Energy is seeking a Director of Superlaser Operations to lead the Shot Operations and Maintenance organization in Denver. You will recruit, develop, and manage engineers and technicians, ensuring safe and efficient laser shot operations, maintenance, and upgrades for Phoenix.

You will own the schedule, budget, and performance metrics, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate with design teams to enhance operability of future laser systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field.
• 10+ years leading operations of complex, high-energy, or safety-critical systems.
• Proven program leadership with ownership of schedule, budget, and delivery.
• Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing technical teams.
• Experience implementing process discipline, metrics, and continuous improvement.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and directly manage engineers and technicians in Shot Operations and Maintenance.
• Scale a high-performing organization to support increasing throughput and complexity.
• Develop staffing models and shift structures to sustain operations.
• Recruit, develop, and retain top talent with clear roles and career paths.
• Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain shot operations standards, processes, and infrastructure.
• Serve as program manager for Phoenix operations—scope, schedule, budget.
• Orchestrate integrated planning for shot operations and maintenance campaigns.
• Establish program rhythm: PMRs, weekly planning, cross-functional forums.
• Track risks, dependencies, and critical path with proactive mitigation.
• Ensure high-quality data collection, reporting, and performance communications.
• Forecast and report budget, labor, OPEX, and CapEx in partnership with Engineering.
• Drive cost efficiency while maintaining safety and schedule commitments.
• Capture operational lessons learned and feed design teams for operability improvements.
