Job summary

VTG Defense is seeking a Data Scientist to support our team in Beavercreek, Ohio. The role involves designing and prototyping a data management and application development pipeline for defense data science tasks, gathering and analyzing data, and developing AI/ML based applications.

You will work with DevOps engineers, software developers, data engineers, and system operators to prototype diverse solutions and manage data across its lifecycle, from onboarding to integration and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Data Science/IS or related field.
• 4+ years as a Data Scientist with statistical modeling and ML on large datasets.
• Experience with data storage and management tools (S3, SQL, MongoDB, HBase, Kafka, etc.).
• Programming in Python or R with pandas, NumPy, Polars, Dask.
• Experience with JupyterHub/Jupyter Notebooks and Apache Spark.
• Knowledge of data modeling principles.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data extraction and insights.
• Cloud development experience, preferably AWS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• US Citizen with TOP SECRET/SCI Eligible Clearance or ability to obtain a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance.
• Background check success.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement a data management and application development pipeline.
• Gather and organize data; conduct data analytics and develop analytic/AIML applications.
• Work with DevOps, software developers, data engineers, and system operators to prototype solutions.
• Identify data needs and prototype modern data pipelines in local and cloud environments.
• Provide technical input to program managers and government representatives.
