Job summary

Avantor is seeking a highly capable Controls Engineer to design, build, install, and support control systems at our Carpinteria, CA facility. You will work with R&D, Manufacturing, and Reliability teams, traveling as needed to other sites.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering and 1–3 years of experience with PLC/HMI programming, electrical diagrams, and CAD tools. Strong safety focus and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• PLC and HMI programming experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70/70E, NEC, etc.
• Understanding of electrical diagrams/schematics.
• Electrical troubleshooting using multimeters/oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics and PLC/HMI code for equipment upgrades.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for builds and installations.
• Plan projects to balance timelines and downtime.
• Create/modify technical drawings; write maintenance and operating docs.
• Assist with troubleshooting and field support.
