Job summary

Propio Language Services is seeking on-site contract interpreters in the New York, NY area who are passionate about using language skills to facilitate accurate and meaningful communication.

You will provide consecutive interpretation between English and all spoken languages, with optional remote interpretation by phone or video. This independent contractor role requires professional standards, confidentiality, and the ability to travel to assignments in the NYC area.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Proficiency in English and All Spoken Languages.
• Ability to accurately provide consecutive interpretation between English and All Spoken Languages.
• Background, security, fingerprinting, and/or drug screening may be required.
• One or more years of professional interpreting experience.
• Medical, legal, community, educational, or social-services interpreting experience.
• Relevant interpreter training, credentials, or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and professional consecutive interpretation between English and All Spoken Languages during onsite assignments.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable to an accepted assignment.
• Follow applicable interpreter protocols, professional standards, and client requirements.
• Comply with confidentiality, privacy, security, and assignment protocols (HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, etc.).
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy and data‑protection requirements.
• Maintain professional interactions with clients and participants.
• Maintain language proficiency and subject-matter knowledge for assignments.
