Job summary

Atoms is seeking a Compute Technician to assemble and test custom compute units powering autonomous vehicles. You will work at a production bench assembling boards, modules, and enclosures, load software, and verify quality before vehicle installation.

You’ll follow documented instructions, perform precise assembly tasks, and maintain clean, organized workstations in a scaling production environment. This role offers onsite work in San Francisco with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background in box build, PC assembly, avionics, or electromechanical assembly.
• Experience in an ESD-controlled electronics manufacturing environment.
• Comfortable with hand tools, torque drivers, and small fasteners.
• Ability to read and follow assembly documentation, diagrams, and checklists.
• Familiarity with flashing or imaging devices, or basic command-line comfort.
• Experience with quality inspection and traceability documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive precision tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assemble compute units at a production station per work instructions: install circuit boards, compute modules, storage, and internal components into enclosures.
• Perform cable dressing, connector seating, and torqued fastener installation to specification.
• Follow ESD-safe handling procedures for all boards and electronic components.
• Perform in-process and final quality checks; record serial numbers and results for traceability.
• Pull parts from kitted bins and carts, verify kit completeness, and flag missing or damaged parts.
• Meet daily build targets while maintaining quality standards.
• Follow standard operating procedures and flag gaps or improvement ideas from the bench.
• Keep the workstation clean, organized, and stocked.
