Job summary

Wood County Hospital seeks a Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical quality, patient safety, and performance improvement as the physician executive for the hospital and physician enterprise. This onsite role reports to the President & CEO and partners with the CNO, risk management, and Medical Staff leadership.

The CMO will oversee governance, provider performance, budgeting, and enterprise strategy while maintaining clinical privileges with part-time patient care duties.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Active Ohio MD/DO licensure by time of hire.
• Board certification in the physician's specialty; Physician Executive Certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic clinical leadership for quality, patient safety, and performance improvement.
• Act as liaison between administration and Medical Staff and oversee physician enterprise operations.
• Lead governance structures, enterprise process improvement, and recruitment for physician groups.
• Oversee technology alignment with clinical practice, analytics, AI, and digital health initiatives; ensure compliance and survey readiness.
