Job summary

UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital seeks a skilled Sonographer to perform echocardiography and assess cardiac structures in alignment with scope and standards of practice, working onsite in the HRH CV Stress Lab.

The role requires reviewing patient history, educating patients, selecting imaging parameters, and ensuring high-quality results. A Cardiac Sonography credential, RDCS or RCS, and BLS are required; prior experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography program OR Associate's degree in allied health OR a Bachelor's degree in any area.
• RDCS or RCS certification required as listed (ARDMS or CCI).
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification required; other life support as determined at position level.
• 1 year experience preferred.
• Registered Sonographer and related credentials (RDCS, RCS, or Cardiovascular Sonographer) are recognized.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• Independently performs echocardiography procedures on patients. Selects and uses transducers according to anatomy; differentiates normal and abnormal structures; ensures sufficient information for diagnosis.
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. When indicated, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition and reports changes in status.
• Implements safety standards and performs quality control on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
