Job summary

Treasure Valley Family YMCA in Cascade, Idaho, seeks a Camp Assistant Cook for the ACA-accredited YMCA Camp Horsethief Reservoir. The role supports the Head Cook in kitchen and dining operations, with a focus on safety, food quality, and teamwork during a dynamic summer season.

The position is seasonal full-time, requiring on-site living during program times and a flexible schedule from April through November.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience cooking and serving over 100 meals per day.
Ability to live on site during scheduled program times.
Successful experience in food service management and customer service.
Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

Develop intentional relationships with participants, staff and volunteers that result in participants having fun and making new friends.
Create an environment that fosters safety through the education of participants, volunteers and staff using the Y voice attributes and by role modeling safe behavior.
Effectively communicate with participants, staff and volunteers using the Y voice attributes and providing feedback when necessary.
Resolve camper and parent concerns and issues.
Work closely with all kitchen staff to ensure everyone understands and follows all kitchen and dining facility operating practices.
Support Head Cook in all functions of kitchen and dining facility operations, including meal planning, food prep, cooking, food storage, cleaning and disinfecting.
Enforce health standards, cleaning and record keeping practices that meet local and state Food Laws and Sanitation codes and requirements.
