Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Backend Data Engineer to support the USN in Norfolk, VA. This 100% onsite role focuses on building and maintaining data pipelines and backend data infrastructure for enterprise reporting and analytics using Azure Data Factory and SQL databases.

You will ingest, transform, and prepare data from diverse sources, ensure data quality, and enable Power BI-driven reporting. US DoD environment experience and security clearances are required; benefits include

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of hands-on Data Engineering experience.
• Active Secret clearance required.
• IAT Level II certification required.
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines and ETL/data integration solutions.
• Strong experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Strong SQL/database experience.
• Experience transforming, staging, and aggregating data for BI use.
• Experience supporting data used by Power BI or enterprise reporting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data pipelines supporting Navy and DoD environments.
• Use Azure Data Factory (ADF) to build pipelines and connect legacy systems, applications, databases, and data repositories.
• Ingest data from diverse sources and determine extraction and integration approaches.
• Transform, cleanse, stage, aggregate, and prepare data for downstream reporting and analytics.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries and work with SQL databases and data repositories.
• Integrate systems and move data across platforms and repositories.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures, connectivity issues, and data quality problems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data sources and reporting needs.
• Develop data solutions that feed Power BI and other BI tools.
• Document data flows, pipeline architecture, and dependencies.
• Support evolving enterprise data environments using modern cloud and legacy systems.
