Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Engineer to support the U.S. Navy. This 100% onsite role is based in Norfolk, VA (also in San Diego, CA or Jacksonville, FL).

The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain Azure-based data pipelines that ingest, transform, stage, aggregate, and prepare data for enterprise reporting. You will work with Azure Data Factory, SQL, ETL, and Power BI to connect disparate systems and turn unstructured data into reliable, actionable information while

Qualifications

• 3-4+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience in enterprise data environments.
• ADF pipelines and data integration across multiple systems.
• Strong SQL querying and enterprise data handling.
• Power BI dashboard/report development experience.
• ETL, data integration, data transformation, data staging, and data aggregation.
• Experience connecting legacy/disparate systems and moving data between repositories.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and IAT Level II certification.
• Experience with Python, PowerShell, XML, SSIS, Splunk, or Azure/cloud data environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Azure-based data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, staging, aggregation, and reporting.
• Connect legacy and enterprise systems to ensure reliable data flows and reporting readiness.
• Evaluate and process new datasets to determine ingestion/ transformation/storage strategies.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database solutions to support data extraction and reporting.
• Support Power BI dashboards and reports with clean, structured data.
• Troubleshoot data pipelines and integration issues ensuring data quality, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify BI improvements and automation opportunities.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Engineer to support the U.S. Navy. This role is 100% onsite in Norfolk, VA; San Diego, CA; or Jacksonville, FL. The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain Azure-based data pipelines that ingest, transform, stage, aggregate, and prepare data for enterprise reporting. This role combines hands‑on Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL, data integration, ETL, and Power BI to connect disparate systems and turn new or unstructured data into reliable, actionable information.

Responsibilities of the Data Engineer include:

• Design, develop, & maintain Azure-based data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to ingest, transform, stage, aggregate, & prepare data for enterprise reporting
• Connect & integrate legacy, disparate, & enterprise systems, establishing reliable data flows between databases, repositories, & downstream reporting platforms
• Analyze new & unclean datasets to determine appropriate data ingestion, transformation, storage, staging, & aggregation strategies
• Develop & optimize SQL queries & database solutions to support data extraction, transformation, validation, & reporting requirements
• Support the development of Power BI dashboards & reports, ensuring reporting tools are fed with accurate, clean, & properly structured data
• Troubleshoot & resolve data pipeline and integration issues while ensuring data quality, reliability, security, & performance
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify opportunities for ETL, data integration, automation, & business intelligence improvements

Qualifications of the Data Engineer include:

• 3-4+ years of hands‑on Data Engineering experience, with a focus on enterprise data transformation, staging, aggregation, & pipeline development
• Hands‑on experience developing Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines and integrating data from multiple systems and databases
• Strong experience with SQL & SQL databases, including writing queries and working directly with enterprise data
• Hands‑on experience with Power BI, including developing reports/dashboards and working with the underlying data
• Experience with ETL, data integration, data transformation, data staging, & data aggregation
• Experience connecting legacy and/or disparate systems and moving data between systems and repositories
• Ability to independently evaluate unfamiliar datasets and determine how to ingest, transform, store, & prepare data for reporting
• Active DoD Secret security clearance
• IAT Level II certification
• Experience with Python, PowerShell, XML, SSIS, Splunk, or Azure/cloud data environments is a plus

Compensation for the Data Engineer includes:

• Salary: $90,000-$100,000 depending on experience
• Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan, Holidays, PTO, sick leave as required by law
