Job summary

AVI-SPL, Inc. is seeking an Onsite AV Support Technician to provide on‑premises support for customers at site locations. The role emphasizes direct end‑user assistance, routine maintenance, and quick diagnostics to keep conference spaces operational.

You will test equipment, support meetings, and coordinate with client staff to ensure AV requirements are met, with after‑hours availability as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with AV practices and procedures.
  • Videoconferencing experience including operation and setup.
  • Crestron/Extron/AMX knowledge a plus.
  • Experience in corporate or event spaces a plus.
  • ServiceNow knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and test daily functionality of all AV and integrated conference rooms.
  • Perform routine testing and problem diagnostics for projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers and displays.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to resolve problems or identify resolutions with vendors.
  • Troubleshoot AV issues, including last‑minute problems.
  • Assist with meetings and events requiring AV infrastructure.
  • Interact with client help desk ticketing system to respond to requests.
  • Coordinate with client staff to determine AV requirements for new rooms.
  • Setup and breakdown of all onsite meetings.
  • Daily system testing to ensure equipment and room functionality.
  • Escalate next‑level break‑fix issues to the manager.
  • Perform remote testing for local and regional offices.
  • Ensure AV spaces are presentable for use.

Job description

Onsite AV Support Technician

The Onsite AV Support Technician will work in partnership with the customer, management team, global helpdesk, and SIG teams to provide on premises support for AVI-SPL customers at customer site(s) with the end goals of delivering a world-class Customer Service experience.

The AV Support Technician is identified as a Tech 1 (T1) position intended to provide direct end-user support in the operation of the systems. In addition, the AV Support Technician will possess the training and experience to resolve minor problems and perform clean, inspect and readiness checks on systems as part of the routine preventive maintenance process.

The Support Technician is identified as a Tech 1 (T1) position intended to provide direct end‑user support in the operation of the systems. In addition, the AV Support Technician will possess the training and experience to resolve minor problems and perform clean, inspect and readiness checks on systems as part of the routine preventive maintenance process.

Day‑To‑Day Responsibilities
  • Operate and test daily functionality of all AV and integrated conference rooms
  • Perform routine testing and problem diagnostics for projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers & LCD/Plasma Displays
  • Perform preventive maintenance to resolve problem or identify resolution to appropriate vendor or manufacturer
  • Troubleshoot AVN problems last minute as required as well as non‑critical situations
  • Assist with company meetings/functions that require use of AV infrastructure (audio, video conferencing, webcast, visual display or project, and control system - AMX, Crestron operations)
  • Interact with client Customer Help Desk ticketing system to respond to end‑user requests
  • Coordinate with client staff to determine AV basic infrastructure requirements for any new conference room or media design
  • Setup and breakdown of all onsite meetings
  • Daily system testing to ensure equipment and room functional
  • Responsible for escalating all "next level" break‑fix issues to the manager for resolution
  • Perform remote testing for local and regional offices
  • Ensure all AVS spaces are presentable for use
  • Other duties assigned as needed
Items to Consider
  • AVI‑SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.
  • This position will generally work on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.

Must‑Haves

  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video and control
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI‑SPL driving standard
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be flexible to work after hours and weekends when required
  • Ability to regularly climb and work from ladders, lifting equipment, tools and materials
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of AV practices and procedures
  • Videoconferencing experience including operation, call set‑up and equipment
  • Knowledge of AV Control experience including Crestron, Extron, and/or AMX a plus
  • AV Support in Corporate, Event facility spaces a plus
  • Experience and knowledge of Zoom Conferencing Platform a plus
  • ServiceNow platform knowledge a plus
Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position are those that are necessary to meet the responsibilities and essential functions of this position.
