Job summary

Workforce Solutions is seeking a hands-on Project Automation Engineer to support capital equipment and manufacturing improvements in the Anderson/Pendleton area. You will lead the project lifecycle from design and equipment specification through installation, controls programming, commissioning, and startup, coordinating vendors and operations.

The role requires strong electrical and automation skills, Siemens PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI work, and ability to read electrical drawings.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
Approx. 2+ years of practical engineering experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC programming and electrical/control system design.
Experience developing or configuring HMIs and familiarity with VFDs and motion control.
Ability to read, develop, or work from electrical drawings and control schematics.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; effective communicator across teams.

Responsibilities

Design and implement electrical and automation solutions for manufacturing equipment and capital projects.
Develop and modify PLC programs using Siemens controls.
Work with Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and GRAFCET.
Develop and configure HMI applications.
Specify and support VFDs, drives, motors, motion control, and related components.
Create or review electrical and control designs using CAD tools.
Integrate controls equipment with plant networks and databases.
Troubleshoot automation and electrical issues during installation and startup.
Support equipment commissioning, validation, and production ramp-up.
Develop project cost estimates, schedules, equipment specs, and documentation.
Coordinate with equipment suppliers and contractors from design through acceptance.
Participate in RFQs, procurement, vendor reviews, and acceptance activities.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel.
Assist with equipment safety and ergonomic reviews.
Coordinate multiple engineering disciplines to maintain schedule and startup progress.
