Barrett Petfood in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient accounting operations in a manufacturing setting. You will work onsite with a collaborative, high-performance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong cost accounting, inventory accounting, and standard costing understanding.
• CPA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual GAAP financial statements with entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Analyze manufacturing and labor costs, review overhead rates, and investigate cost variances.
• Maintain standard costing and support BOM reviews.
• Assist with external audits and tax filing requirements, ensuring documentation.
• Support accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger functions.
• Collaborate with operations to identify root causes of cost variances and corrective actions.
• Participate in special accounting projects and other routine tasks.
