Job summary

Sterling St James LLC is seeking a skilled Machine Builder & Precision Assembler for 1st shift in Pewaukee, WI. The role focuses on building custom automation from the ground up, interpreting detailed drawings, and aligning mechanical components with high precision on a 100% onsite shop floor.

You will collaborate with mechanical engineers, wiremen, and controls staff, owning the build end-to-end from layout to final adjustments, with overtime opportunities and a strong, long-term craftsmanship

Qualifications

• 5+ years building ground-up mechanical machines or 2+ years with precision toolmaking/fixture background.
• Ability to read multi-view mechanical drawings and fluid power schematics.
• Experience with high-precision alignment and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble complex automated machinery from scratch.
• Read blueprints and schematics to determine build sequencing.
• Verify clearances and assembly with 3D CAD models on the floor.
• Layout and mount pneumatic/hydraulic systems on frames.
• Shim, scrape, and tune components to tight tolerances.
• Collaborate with engineers to resolve bottlenecks on site.
• Oversee teardown, packing, and shipment prep of completed machines.
