Job summary

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of West Virginia is seeking qualified online K-12 teachers to deliver rigorous, live instruction and monitor student progress. This is primarily virtual teaching, with occasional in-person state testing and student events several times per year.

Candidates should hold a State teaching license in the appropriate content area, demonstrate knowledge of standards, and have strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Current State teaching license in the appropriate content area.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Preferred two years of teaching experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook).
• Ability to pass federal and state background checks.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor in all core content areas and grade levels.
• Deliver live lessons via web conference based on student needs and instructional practices.
• Monitor student progress in asynchronous courses and provide feedback daily.
• Collaborate with Principal to create and deliver Progress Reports of Students.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth.
• Travel to support required face-to-face state testing annually.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
