Job summary

Alabama Connections Academy (ALCA) is an online public school serving grades K–12 across Alabama. Teachers will operate from Athens or a home office within the state, guiding learners and coordinating with learning coaches to ensure successful program completion.

Role includes state testing, professional development for Title III, grading, progress reports, parent conferences, and collaboration with leadership to support English Learners and overall student progress in a virtual setting.

Qualifications

• Must reside within the state of Alabama.
• Appropriately certified to teach in Alabama.
• Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in organization and administration of State Testing as directed.
• Attend local and state PD trainings related to Title III compliance and instruction.
• Complete grading, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences timely.
• Support instructional program with asynchronous and synchronous sessions.
• Interpret data in supplemental programs to support English Learners.
• Review curriculum and adapt lessons to increase student understanding.
• Communicate with parents, students and other teachers to update learning plans.
• Collaborate with leadership to maintain the English Learner Advisory Committee.
• Coordinate with teachers to ensure progress and central point of contact for families.
• Develop detailed knowledge of K-12 curriculum and courses of responsibility.
• Provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects.
• Regularly communicate with families via computer and phone.
• Keep student records and attendance, logging contacts.
• Work with staff to create enrichment activities and modifications.
• Coordinate social activities and field trips for students.
• Attend field trips and community activities for families.
• Contribute to building a virtual school community.
• Participate in student recruitment and marketing efforts.
