Pennant Education is looking for a reliable and experienced Math tutor who enjoys working with children and teens. Our lessons are live, online, and one-on-one, with each student following a recurring weekly schedule.
We are especially interested in tutors who are confident teaching middle and high school Math and have a strong understanding of the U.S. K-12 curriculum.
What You’ll Do
- Provide one-on-one Math instruction based on each student’s level, needs, and goals.
- Support school coursework, strengthen foundational skills, and address learning gaps.
- Explain challenging concepts clearly and adapt your approach when a student needs a different explanation.
- Encourage problem-solving, independent thinking, and confidence in Math.
- Maintain a consistent schedule, arrive prepared and on time, and complete brief attendance and lesson notes.
- Occasionally provide substitute coverage when your schedule allows.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 1 year of Math teaching or tutoring experience, preferably online and with children or teens.
- Strong knowledge of the U.S.-12 Math curriculum, particularly at the middle and high school levels.
- Ability to explain Math clearly and patiently, using different approaches depending on the student.
- Strong reliability, punctuality, communication, and time-management skills.
- Experience supporting neurodivergent learners is a plus.
- Experience with SAT/ACT Math, Math Kangaroo, AMC 8/AMC 10, Math Olympiad, or other competition preparation is a strong plus.
- Degree or relevant coursework in Mathematics, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Comfortable with online teaching technology, with reliable internet, a suitable computer, and a quiet teaching space.
- Consistent weekday availability from 4:00 PM ET onward and the ability to take multiple recurring students.
- Flexible part-time schedule. Share the weekday hours you can teach from 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time onward. Once matched with a student, you’ll typically meet at the same time each week.
- Teach from home. Lead live, one-on-one math lessons online with a computer and a reliable internet connection.
- Focus on teaching. The admin team handles scheduling, rescheduling, parent communication, and billing.
- Work with recurring students. Get to know how each student learns, tailor lessons to their needs, and see their progress week to week.
- Room to grow your schedule. Take on additional students as enrollment and your availability allow.
