Job summary

National Heritage Academies seeks an Online Learning Mentor to support students with academic intervention under a classroom teacher's supervision. You will prepare and deliver instructional assistance and help improve student test performance while assisting with attendance communications.

Responsibilities include daily lesson planning, small group instruction, maintaining logs, and participating in planning with teachers. Strong communication and math literacy are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher required.
• 60 college credits completed (MI only).
• Pass the ParaPro assessment (ACT WorKeys, MTTC basic skills or ETS exam).
• No certificates or licenses needed.
• Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
• Speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication.
• Add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, decimals.
• Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
• Apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily lesson plans for students under supervision.
• Provide individual and small group instruction.
• Support instructional activities during workshops as directed.
• Participate in weekly planning sessions with teachers and supervisor.
• Complete daily logs (caseload hours, communication, accommodations).
• Monitor student attendance for caseload.
• Communicate with students and families about attendance/behavior.
• Attend articulation meetings with teachers.
• Attend required professional development activities.
• Be available for afternoon/evening conferences.
• Maintain exemplary attendance and punctuality.
• Other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare daily lesson plans for students under the direction of immediate supervisor and/or classroom teacher.
• Provide individual and small group instruction.
• Provide instructional assistance for students during workshop as directed by the classroom teacher and designated instructional leader.
• Participate in weekly planning sessions with classroom teachers and immediate supervisor
• Complete daily logs (e.g. caseload hours, communication, accommodation, etc.)
• Monitor regular student attendance for assigned caseload.
• Communicate directly with students and families regarding attendance and/or behavior concerns.
• Attend articulation meetings with classroom teachers.
• Attend professional development activities as required.
• Be available for afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences.
• Exemplary attendance and tardiness record.
• Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher.
• Completed at 60 credit hours of higher education as defined by the institution or higher education (MI only).
• Pass the ParaPro assessment (ACT WorKeys, MTTC basic skills or ETS exam
• No certificates or licenses needed.
• Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

• Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Interpret a variety of instructions furbished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
