Job summary

Prairie State College seeks student-centered adjunct faculty to teach Composition I (English 101) and Composition II (English 102) both online and in person at our Chicago Heights campus during the Spring 2027 semester. Local candidates are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English.
• Experience teaching at the community college level is strongly preferred.
• Priority will be given to candidates with graduate coursework and/or training in the teaching of writing.

Responsibilities

• Teach Composition I (English 101) and Composition II (English 102) online and in person at Prairie State College's Chicago Heights campus.
• Engage a diverse student population and employ student-centered teaching approaches.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and contribute to the English Department’s collegial environment.
