Job summary

Stella and Charles Guttman Community College, part of The City University of New York, seeks a substitute Lecturer in Health Information Technology for Spring 2027. The role covers HIT courses in the program and may involve in-person duties alongside online instruction.

Faculty participate in college service and assessments within an interdisciplinary setting. The candidate should hold a AHIMA credential (RHIT/RHIA) with a bachelor’s in a related field and possess at least one year of college

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, Health Informatics or related field; AHIMA Credential; Active RHIT or RHIA credential required.
At least one year of successful teaching experience in a college setting (full-time or part-time) required.
Ability to collaborate well with others in academics, student services, and administration.

Responsibilities

Teach HIT courses in the HITE Program (e.g., Introduction to HIT, Legal and Ethical Aspects of Healthcare, Medical Terminology, Quality Assessment and Statistics, Principles of Healthcare Reimbursement, CPT/HCPCS Coding, ICD-10-CM/PCS Coding).
Engage in departmental service and assessments; may have in-person requirements.
Support Guttman’s educational model and participate in collaborative college initiatives.
