Job summary

Michigan Connections Academy (MICA) seeks certified teachers to remotely or from a Michigan office to manage instructional programs for students in grades K-12. You will consult with learning coaches and students to ensure successful program completion.

Responsibilities include grading, progress reports, parent conferences, and coordinating with staff to develop personalized learning plans, schedule management, and field trips where applicable. Evening hours and occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Qualified and certified to teach the appropriate subject in Michigan
• Michigan Residency preferred
• Strong technology skills with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Highly organized and punctual
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills from diverse backgrounds
• Willingness to travel for in-person events and State Testing as required
• Ability to work some evening hours and remotely if necessary

Responsibilities

• Support instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction
• Complete grading, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences
• Communicate with parents, students, and teachers to develop Personal Learning Plans and schedules
• Develop knowledge of the curriculum and specific courses responsible for
• Review curriculum and present lessons using alternate approaches to improve understanding
• Provide additional assistance to students and families with daily assignments and projects
• Maintain regular contact with parents, students, and school staff via computer and phone
• Collaborate with other teachers to ensure student progress and coordinated communication
• Keep student records up to date, including attendance and logs of contacts
• Work with staff to develop enrichment activities and modifications to programs
• Coordinate social activities and field trips; manage regional trips and integrate with curriculum
• Devise virtual methods to create and maintain a school community
• Participate in organization of State Testing and student recruitment events
• Attend field trips and community activities for families
• Perform other duties as assigned
