Job summary

Alvin Community College seeks a Part-Time Faculty member to teach Health Information Management courses online during the academic year. Courses may vary by semester based on program needs.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction, maintaining LMS, aligning materials, providing timely feedback, and recording attendance and grades. Must stay current with HIM practices and collaborate with program staff and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management with at least one current industry certification.
• Acceptable certifications include: RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CPC.
• Minimum of two (2) years non-teaching work experience in the Health Information Technology field.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in assigned Health Information Management courses using approved outcomes, syllabi, activities, and assessments.
• Maintain and update the Learning Management System (LMS) to keep content organized, accessible, and current.
• Ensure materials, assignments, due dates, and gradebook settings are accurate and aligned with curriculum.
• Apply current HIM practices, coding conventions, privacy and security requirements, and data quality principles in teaching.
• Communicate course expectations clearly and provide timely feedback on student work.
• Evaluate attendance and grades and submit records by deadlines.
• Maintain regular instructor presence via office hours, communications, and discussions.
• Collaborate with program director, faculty, staff, students, and industry partners.
• Adhere to Alvin College policies; perform other duties as assigned.
