Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Fire Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Professional experience in fire service or emergency management.
• Experience teaching adult learners in professional, academic, or workforce settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to student success and inclusive teaching practices.
• Preferred: experience teaching online and leadership roles in public safety organizations.
• Preferred: relevant professional certifications (e.g., Fire Officer, Executive Fire Officer, Certified Emergency Manager, FEMA/NIMS).

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate Fire Science and Emergency Services courses online, asynchronously.
• Deliver engaging instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional application of course concepts.
• Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate course records, including attendance, participation, and grades.
• Be available for student support through virtual office hours, email, and scheduled meetings.
• Adhere to institutional policies, procedures, and academic standards.
• Collaborate with departmental faculty and leadership to support student success and program quality.
