Adjunct Faculty

Rasmussen University

This course provides a broad overview of information literacy concepts by introducing skills for locating, evaluating, and ethically using a variety of resources for a specific purpose. The course begins with the information cycle and the production of information, followed by the identification of a topic and research question, and the selection, evaluation, and integration of sources into an annotated bibliography.

Reporting Relationships: Adjunct Faculty will report to an Academic Dean

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate both verbally and in writing with students regarding feedback on performance throughout the course, as outlined in the Faculty Expectations.
  • Be available for students via phone, email, and individual appointments as needed for questions and academic support.
  • Respond promptly to Dean/University staff regarding performance, student issues, or accreditation-related items.
  • Maintain appropriate behavior, language, professionalism, and dress at all times.

Key Accountabilities:

The primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following tasks. Adjunct faculty will be assigned up to 3 work units per academic quarter.

  • Teaching Effectiveness: Use effective teaching strategies, create engaging and student-centered learning environments, and organize classroom activities efficiently.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate mastery of the subject, contribute to curriculum development, and assess student performance.
  • Student and University Support: Support student success through availability and outreach, collaborating with the Dean.
  • Faculty Meetings and Responsibilities: Attend scheduled meetings and events as directed by the Dean.
  • Professional Development: Complete a minimum of six Rasmussen Educational Units (REUs) annually or two REUs per quarter, focusing on teaching development and discipline expertise.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the field preferred.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • For online roles, regular access to a computer meeting system requirements.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Master's degree in Library Sciences.
  • Ability to provide necessary professional licenses and official transcripts.

Location: Remote position, not available to Colorado residents.
