Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Experience working in special education and/or with individuals with severe behavioral and academic issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in instruction of an individual student with disabilities.
• Implement behavioral plans to meet students’ educational and emotional needs.
• Observe students for signs of improvement and document progress.

Skills

Knowledge of early childhood education/human development

Experience working in special education

Knowledge of behavior management strategies

Excellent time-management skills

Ability to work independently

Relationship building skills

Education

Associate’s Degree or higher

High school diploma or equivalent and passing score on ETS ParaPro Assessment
