Job summary

The Vanguard School & Services in Malvern, PA is hiring a One-To-One Aide for a 10-month, full-time position. Work schedule Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, with non-exempt status, reporting to the Program Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of college or a high school diploma with two years of experience with children with special needs, plus PCA/TSS experience and behavior support training.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or high school graduate with two years experience with children with special needs.
• Experience as PCA or TSS and training in behavior support techniques preferred.
• Ability to engage intellectually and physically in all components of the educational process.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with administrators, colleagues, students, parents and others.
• Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
• Ability to use computers and perform clerical skills proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Actively assist in implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.
• Observe, monitor, and redirect behavior according to procedures and maintain records.
• Accompany student to art, music, PE, computer classes, and special events.
• Assist during individual and group therapy sessions as needed.
• Support testing, recordkeeping, and progress monitoring for the assigned student.
• Communicate with parents and staff about student progress; participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
• Provide a nurturing, safe, and organized learning environment; enforce policies consistently.
• Serve as a mentor for new staff and assist substitute teachers when needed.
• Demonstrate Vanguard core values: communication, critical thinking, ethics, professionalism, teamwork.
• Attend staff meetings and at least 20 hours of staff development annually.
