Job summary

Education for Change is seeking paraeducators to work as one-to-one aides for students in general education settings. Under supervision, you will provide instructional support, prepare materials, and assist with behavior management and classroom instruction to help students succeed.

You will support the Special Education Teacher and the instructional team, assist in testing accommodations, and help implement individualized plans while collaborating with families and staff to foster student

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• 1+ year working with students in special education or from urban communities is preferred.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions; initiative to modify activities as needed.
• Growth mindset and willingness to use feedback to refine practice.
• Knowledge of basic elementary subjects (math, reading, writing, grammar, and spelling).

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing and maintaining a clean, safe classroom and learning environment.
• Prepare and set up instructional materials and equipment for classroom activities.
• Assist teachers in creating curriculum modifications for students.
• Provide testing accommodations and supervise tests as needed.
• Review and correct student work assignments.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support student success.
• Support teachers and students in designated special education programs; tutor individuals or small groups.
• Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans and reinforcing positive behaviors.
• Communicate progress to teachers and families as assigned.
• Assist with student transportation and supervision as required.
• Attend mandatory new hire professional development.
