Job summary

Applitrack seeks a Special Programs Paraprofessional to support daily instructional activities at Pilot Butte Elementary. The role provides assistance toward maximizing student learning for special education students under supervision of the resource room teacher.

The position is 9 months per year, part-time up to 29 hours per week, with duties spanning classroom support, data collection for IEP goals, and assisting with student hygiene and materials preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing teacher's plans for students in all academic/behavioral/personal areas as directed by supervising resource room teacher.
  • Assists supervising resource room teacher in collecting data on individual student's IEP goals and objectives.
  • Facilitates in the supervision and classroom management of all students as directed and consistent with the supervising teacher's management plan.
  • Assists supervising teacher with individual student hygiene including toileting, personal hygiene, and feeding tasks when appropriate.
  • Instructional assistants need to be in assigned areas.
  • Assists the supervising teacher in preparing the classroom, materials, and equipment for use in specific instructional programs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, parent/guardian in any public setting.
  • Selects an appropriate place, time, with supervisor to discuss situations.
  • Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, district personnel, and co-workers at all times.
  • Locates and organizes any instructional materials by copying, filing, lamination etc.
  • Corrects assignments (with key) as directed by supervising teacher.
  • Intervenes with students, at the direction of the teacher or administrator, in crisis/emergency situations.
  • Seeks appropriate additional tasks when assigned work is completed.
  • Instructional assistant will cover in regular classrooms as assigned by supervising teacher.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by resource room teacher and/or administrator.
  • Participates in additional training to increase knowledge base.

Location: Pilot Butte Elementary


Reports To: Building Principal


Terms of Employment: 9 Months/Year


Part Time, at most 29 hours per week


Salary: P-V, $25.69


Nature and Scope of Job

To implement on a daily basis all assistance toward maximizing student learning as deemed necessary and/or required to meet the social emotional, behavioral, academic, and personal needs of special education students under direction of the supervising resource room teacher.
