Job summary

Thrive Education Partners seeks an experienced educator to provide individualized 1:1 academic support for a gifted elementary student in Lafayette, CA. The role emphasizes handwriting, writing fluency, and executive functioning development to help ideas become written expression.

The ideal candidate holds a Reading Specialist certification or advanced training in reading/literacy, with at least three years of elementary tutoring and experience with ADHD/autism-spectrum learners.

Qualifications

Certified Reading Specialist preferred; advanced training in reading, literacy, or special education valued.
Minimum of three years’ experience working with elementary-aged students.
Experience supporting students with ADHD and/or autism-spectrum traits.

Responsibilities

Provide individualized 1:1 instruction in handwriting, written expression, and writing fluency.
Support handwriting and fine-motor development to build endurance.
Help student elaborate on ideas and expand brief responses into fuller writing.
Build writing fluency and stamina at a pace that keeps him successful.
Support task initiation and executive functioning skills to ease starting tasks.
Reduce writing avoidance by making tasks manageable and reinforcing effort.
Use engaging strategies, including positive reinforcement and technology-based learning.
Adapt instruction to the student’s needs and emotional state session to session.
Communicate progress and strategies with parents regularly.
