Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking an Oncology Veterinary Assistant to support chemotherapy treatments. You will monitor patients during infusions and assist the care team with preparation and administration of SQ/IM chemotherapy agents.

The role requires comfort with restraint and the ability to stock, clean, and maintain chemotherapy areas to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience with chemotherapy administration and patient care.
• Comfortable with patient restraint during treatment.
• Ability to dispense, reconstitute and administer SQ/IM chemotherapy agents.
• Ability to stock, clean and maintain treatment areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians and doctors while monitoring patients during chemotherapy infusions.
• Set up materials for short and long chemotherapy administrations.
• Support safe restraint and handling of patients during procedures.
• Dispense, reconstitute and administer SQ/IM chemotherapy agents as directed.
• Stock and clean treatment areas and assist with IV catheter prep.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring for an exceptional Oncology Veterinary Assistant!

Pay:

$21.25 - $30.45 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Schedule:

4x10 hour shifts

Responsibilities of an Oncology Veterinary Assistant:

• Assist the Technicians and Doctors monitoring patient who is receiving a chemotherapy infusion
• Ability to set up appropriate materials for short and long chemotherapy administration
• Comfortable with restraint
• Ability to safely dispense, reconstitute and administered SQ/IM chemotherapy agents
• Stocking and cleaning
• Ability to properly wrap and shave for an IV catheter for chemotherapy infusion
