Overview
This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting key accounts in Birmingham, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa and the Shoals in northwest Alabama. The Oncology Sales Specialist will handle delivering sales performance and promoting product(s) within the oncology, hematology or rare disease portfolio of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.

- Maintain deep understanding of territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, product data, and anticipate environmental changes to optimize execution.
- Develop and execute a call-plan to achieve goals and improve access and sales opportunities while promoting a technical and innovative product portfolio.
- Understand the local healthcare system landscape, EMRs, pathways, and PA-claims processing; develop and execute account-level plans.
- Use sales data tools to understand trends and couple with customer insights to identify growth opportunities.
- Utilize social media to capture customer insights and drive tactical execution and improved customer experience.
- Move between non-digital and digital settings and use non-personal tools to deliver customized customer experiences.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
- 2+ years’ experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, or a sales role of similar complexity within the last 5 years.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, communicate clinical product information, perform at high level, and sell to large accounts and key segments.
- Self-starter with analytic abilities to prioritize information to meet customer needs, and commitment to ethical leadership and compliance.
- Residence within the territory or within 50 miles of the territory border; travel 60-80% across a broad geography; valid driver’s license required.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience across therapeutic groups, disease states, account management strategy, and new product launches.
- Understanding of patient services, market access, buy-and-bill, specialty pharmacy, reimbursement, or medical calling on HCPs for sophisticated products or reimbursement paths.

Compensation & Benefits
Novartis Compensation Summary
The salary for this position is expected to range between:
- Oncology Representative: $81,200 – $150,800 per year
- Oncology Specialist: $114,100 – $211,900 per year
- Senior Oncology Specialist: $126,000 – $234,000 per year
The final salary offered is based on factors such as relevant skills and experience. Compensation includes a performance-based cash incentive and may include eligibility for annual equity awards. US-based eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package including health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, vacation, personal days, holidays and other leaves.
