Virginia Oncology Associates is seeking an RN Safety Nurse to support our Suffolk and Virginia Beach offices. The role involves reviewing chemotherapy orders, confirming regimens with current medical practice, and acting as a resource for chemotherapy safety.

Requires an oncology background and active RN license. This full-time position offers shifts across 10-hour days, with compensation in the stated range.

Qualifications

• Five years of oncology-related nursing experience.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or obtain OC N status within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review all chemotherapy orders before administration for completeness and accuracy.
• Confirm regimens align with accepted medical practice and safety/efficacy data.
• Review initial orders, clinical information, and treatment plans.
• Verify BSA calculations based on height and weight.
• Assess the medication use process and recommend improvements.
• Serve as a practice-wide resource for chemotherapy safety issues.
