Job summary

Black Women's Mental Health Institute is seeking an Registered Nurse (RN) to join our oncology team. In a 32-bed unit, you will provide direct patient care focused on blood cancer patients, and develop individualized care plans that educate patients and families on illness management and post-treatment care.

Job description

Position:

Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology

Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care in a 32-bed oncology unit, focusing on blood cancer patients. Develop and implement individualized care plans, educate patients and families on illness management, medication, and post-treatment care. Promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, while participating in professional development. Use critical nursing skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, respecting patient preferences and cultural considerations. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, case managers, social workers, and pharmacy staff.

Qualifications:

Nursing diploma or associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred. Valid RN license required. No prior experience necessary, but less than 2 years of experience is preferred. GNs considered. Sign-on bonus available.

Skills:

Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment, maintaining alertness at all times. Knowledge of oncology care and patient education is advantageous.

Work Environment:

Moderate to high acuity care involving complex interventions. Night shifts with a 3-4:1 patient ratio, primarily 12-hour shifts. Care coordinated by a multidisciplinary team in a Magnet-recognized hospital and comprehensive cancer center.
