The role emphasizes patient education, collaboration with the care team, safety in chemo administration, and ongoing professional development in oncology nursing; Ohio licensure and BLS are required, with ONS/ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license and current to practice
• 1–2 years oncology or chemotherapy experience
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• ONS certification preferred or willing to obtain within specified time frame
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide direct oncology patient care, including assessment, monitoring, and administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments.
• Assist in creating and managing individualized care plans in collaboration with oncologists, social workers, and other healthcare team members.
• Educate patients and their families on cancer treatments, potential side effects, and recovery strategies.
• Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or complications from cancer treatments, ensuring timely intervention as needed.
• Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families, addressing concerns and providing information to enhance their care experience.
• Administer medications, including chemotherapy agents, pain management, and supportive therapies.
• Document patient information, treatments, and responses in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists, pharmacists, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive cancer care.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines for oncology treatments.
• Stay current on advancements in oncology care, treatments, and nursing practices.
