Overview

Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) Locum Tenens opportunity in Springfield, Illinois. Advance your nursing career with a 13-week assignment at a Magnet-designated Level I trauma center, delivering high-quality oncology care in an acute care hospital setting.

Key Details

• Location: Springfield, Illinois (62781)
• Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Oncology Unit (24 beds)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Nursing
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 22, 2025
• Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:15 – 18:45); 3x12 or 4x12 per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,890 – $1,940
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Free permit provided

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or in application process
• Minimum 1 year of recent oncology nursing experience
• Chemo certification preferred (ONS/ONCC, OCN)
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Ability to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• First-time travel nurses accepted

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality care to adult and geriatric oncology patients
• Administer chemotherapy (IV, oral, continuous infusion, IV push) and manage cytotoxic spills
• Monitor chemotherapy and recognize/communicate abnormal lab values
• Perform IV therapy and infusion tasks: accessing ports, central/PICC line care, blood product administration
• Educate and support patients and families throughout cancer treatment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, social services, and more
• Float to other units as required to meet facility needs
