Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Oncology/Research Nurse In Charge for a 36-hour Night shift in Tower 9AB CCI BWH within the Mass General Brigham system.

The NIC provides clinical leadership, plans patient care, and leads staff in delivering high-quality oncology care while engaging in research activities. The role reports to the Nursing Director and focuses on performance improvement and policy development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • MA Registered Nurse License required.
  • 4-5 years of oncology nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • IV therapy experience preferred.
  • Experience with investigator-driven and industry-funded research is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as designated clinical leader for the patient care area and collaborate with Nursing Director.
  • Plan and implement patient care at the service/department level with cost-effective staff allocation.
  • Contribute to clinical standards, outcome evaluation, and improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in staff performance reviews and identify competency gaps for development.
  • Report to the Nursing Director and participate in performance improvement plans.

The Nurse in Charge is accountable for cost-effective decision-making regarding daily assignment of staff, use of supplies, and day-to-day operational decision-making. The NIC participates in clinical patient care standard development, evaluation of outcomes, and development of improvement initiatives.The NIC participates in the assessment of staff performance through contributions to individual staff performance reviews. The NIC is accountable for identifying competency issues and participating in the development and implementation of the plan for performance improvement.
