St. Joseph's/Candler in Savannah, GA seeks an Oncology Data Specialist to compile and maintain cancer registry records from diagnosis through treatment, contact discharged patients and physicians, and run statistical reports.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently, and willingness to obtain the ODS-C within 3 years of hire. Confidential information handling is essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years tumor registry experience preferred.
• 1–2 years health-related field or medical records experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Responsabilités

• Remains current on changes in regulatory data management to comply with accrediting bodies.
• Acquires cancer information from reports and records to complete patient data.
• Abstracts demographic, diagnostic, epidemiologic, treatment and survival information.
• Confirms diagnoses meet criteria for registry inclusion and reviews reports real time.
• Reviews cases with Medical Director and prepares guidelines for cancer conference.
• Selects primary site and morphology codes, stages disease per AJCC, STORE manual.
