Job summary

SCRI Oncology Partners in Nashville, TN is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant Radiology to support physicians and clinicians in a fast-paced oncology clinic. You will assist with exams, procedures, patient flow, data collection, and routine clerical tasks in a facility affiliated with SCRI and US Oncology.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of medical assisting experience, phlebotomy, and a current BCLS certificate; CMA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
• Record patient data prior to visits, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
• Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Phone in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
• Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow-up on test results.
• Arranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
• Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
• Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
• Performs EKGs.
• May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
