Oncology Radiation Therapist Job with UPMC in Altoona, PA

Join to apply for the Oncology Radiation Therapist role at UPMC in Altoona, PA with American Healthcare Strategies.

We are seeking a qualified Medical Dosimetrist to join the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Network in Altoona, PA. This position offers a hybrid work model with on-site and remote work options, requiring the candidate to live within commuting distance.

The dosimetrist will collaborate with a team of four in Altoona and contribute to treatment planning for various radiation therapy techniques, including 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT, motion management, and MR-guided HDR brachytherapy.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in acquiring patient data from medical imaging and manual methods, integrating these into treatment plans.
  • Assist in treatment simulation and fabrication of ancillary devices.
  • Contour normal and critical structures using different imaging modalities.
  • Perform image registration and radiation dose calculations.
  • Assist with special procedures like TBI, TSEI, and IORT.
  • Support quality assurance, documentation, and clinical research activities.
  • Provide training and educational support to staff and trainees.
  • Ensure accurate data transfer and maintain high standards of safety and accuracy.
Qualifications
  • Board certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) or eligibility with certification within two years.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification and compliance with licensure and clearance requirements.
