Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health's Westerly Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse in Oncology to provide safe, evidence-based care tailored to patients and families. You will apply the nursing process across the continuum.

BSN preferred, must complete ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy and maintain provider card; at least three years medical-surgical/oncology experience, infusion experience, and RI RN license with OCN/AOCN/CPON within one year. BLS required; ACLS/PALS optional.

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred or currently matriculating; must complete ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course and maintain ONS provider card.
  • Minimum three years medical surgical/oncology experience; infusion experience required; outpatient ambulatory experience preferred.
  • Active RI RN license and oncology certifications (OCN/AOCN/CPON) within one year of employment.
  • BLS required; ACLS optional; PALS within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient's physical and psychological condition and document information throughout the continuum of care.
  • Adhere to Westerly Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model for staff.
  • Participate in training and educational activities for staff members.
  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, compassion, and professionalism for all customers.
  • Recognize and value contributions of fellow employees; promote teamwork.
  • Report to work on time and follow policies for attendance and time off.

Responsibilities
  • 1.Essential Functions
    • 1.1Assesses the patient's physical and psychological condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Documents appropriately the information obtained from the ongoing assessment. Shares significant assessment data with the appropriate discipline.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

BSN preferred or currently matriculating. Must have successfully completed ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course by the start of employment in the Cancer Center. Must maintain ONS provider card.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum three years medical surgical/oncology experience. Recent and relevant experience in an oncology setting required. Infusion experience required. Outpatient Ambulatory experience preferred.

LICENSURE

Active RI RN license, OCN, AOCN, or CPON certification required or required within one year of employment. . BLS required ACLS (Optional) PALS within one year of hire

SPECIAL SKILLS

Demonstrated proficiency in acute-care nursing, knowledge, and skills. Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals Basic computer knowledge is preferred Strong ability to communicate and interact professionally in busy environment
