CO1000 H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute Hospital, Inc. seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support patient care, review treatment orders, and assist with investigational medications in a compliant setting.

The role includes compounding, inventory management, and contributing to staff training. Requires an associate degree or equivalent hospital experience, and RPhT/CPHT within 90 days of hire. A bachelor’s degree and CSPT are preferred. Salary offered on a competitive basis.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in pharmacy management or related field; in lieu, 4 years of hospital technician experience.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) and CPHT must be obtained within 90 days of hire/transfer.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related fields.
  • Certified CSPT credential is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Initiating or receiving communications with patient provider team members to facilitate patient care and assist in patient appointment review, medical records review, treatment authorization review, processing of treatment orders, including investigational medications per CFR and GCP guidelines.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician may perform compounding, preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical and investigational medications per USP standards and hospital policy, inventory procurement and receiving; stock/supply replenishment, support pharmacy leadership in assisting with efficient inventory stewardship, keeping records and making reports required by law.
  • Help develop didactic materials and coordinate precepting, training and orienting new technician employees, students and residents.
  • Help evaluate competency of trainees and students.
  • Develop and implement workflow processes to improve operation efficiency.
  • Assist in keeping pharmacy operations compliant with local, state, and federal regulatory processes and/or policies.

Education

Associate's degree in pharmacy management, Business, Medical Assisting, Communication, Health Information Technology, Accounting, Finance or related field (in lieu of associate degree, 4 years' experience in hospital setting technician role)
Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) *must obtain within 90 days from date of hire/transfer
Bachelor's degree in pharmacy management, Business, Medical Assisting, Communication, Health Information Technology, Accounting, Finance or related field

Summary
  • initiating or receiving communications with patient provider team members to facilitate patient care: assisting in patient appointment review, medical records review, treatment authorization review, processing of treatment orders, including investigational medications utilized in clinical trials in compliance with policies and procedures set forth by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
  • Registered Pharmacy technician may also perform compounding, preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical and investigational medication preparations following USP standards and hospital policy, inventory procurement and receiving; stock/supply replenishment, support pharmacy leadership in assisting with efficient inventory stewardship, keeping records and making reports required by law, and processing of documents required by the hospital.
  • Help develop didactic materials and coordinate precepting, training and orienting new technician employees, students and residents.

Salary Range $23.90 - $36.41
