Job summary

The University of Miami Pharmacy department is seeking a Pharmacy Technician 2 to prepare medications under the guidance of a Pharmacist and support dispensing workflows at the UHealth system. This role includes labeling, unit doses, stocking supplies, and basic compounding, with opportunities for training and professional growth within a university-affiliated health system.

Requires a Florida license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification or license.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license required.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to learn procedures and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.
• Assists pharmacists in filling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
• Receives and stocks incoming medical supplies and drugs.
• Assists with compounding (didactic and/or basic hands-on).
• Participates in assigned training program and continuing education activities to attain competency in different technician duty areas.
• Volunteers for extra assignments and/or cross training in other department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
• Acts as an informal resource for other technicians with less experience.
• Provides support in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
• Serves as a mentor and role model.
• Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
