Job summary

Tucson Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacist - Clinical Specialist in Oncology to provide expert pharmacotherapy in the oncology clinic, review chemotherapy orders for safety, monitor drug interactions, and advise on supportive care.

The role includes drug information requests, education for residents and students, and collaboration with nursing and medical staff to optimize therapy and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of drugs, side effects, and interactions.
• Ability to apply professional standards in compounding.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional materials.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify chemotherapy orders for accuracy and safety.
• Monitor for drug interactions and manage chemotherapy-related side effects.
• Provide recommendations for supportive care medications.
• Perform therapeutic drug monitoring to optimize dosing and minimize toxicity.
• Oversee preparation, labeling, and packaging of medications.
• Oversee Pharmacy Technicians/Pharmacy Interns in preparation and dispensing.
• Educate patients and representatives on medications, dosages, and side effects.
• Research drug information requests and respond promptly.
• Promote formulary use and suggest alternatives.
