Shannon Health in San Angelo, TX is seeking an Oncology Pharmacist to join the cancer care team. You will ensure safety in chemotherapy compounding, preparation, and dispensing while minimizing waste and shortages.
You will educate patients, monitor adverse events, review drug interactions, and support evidence-based treatment protocols. Sterile compounding certification and active pharmacist licensure are required; a Doctorate in Pharmacy is preferred.
Oncology Pharmacists ensure safety in compounding, preparing, and dispensing chemotherapy along with minimizing drug waste, managing drug shortages, and decreasing exposure to hazardous drugs. The Pharmacist will work along the Oncology Team to provide patient services such as patient education, monitoring adverse drug events, and evaluation of drug-drug, drug-disease interactions, and providing supportive care services. As a part of the Oncology Team, pharmacists can also be asked to take part in the decision‑making process on chemotherapy formulary management, treatment protocols, compliance with regulations, and improvement of patient outcomes.
