Job summary

Essen Health Care in New York is seeking an Oncology Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive cancer care activities from assessment to follow-up across the treatment continuum. You will collaborate with physicians and the oncology team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and manage treatments and follow-up for oncology patients.

The role requires NY NP licensure, national board certification, and the ability to order and interpret tests while supporting symptom management,

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in NP (Family or Adult/Geriatrics).
• Current New York State NP license.
• National Board Certification.
• AANP certification.
• ANCC certification.
• ONCC certification.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
• EMR/EHR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical assessments and health histories of oncology patients.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions related to oncology.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the oncology team.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including blood work, imaging, and biopsies.
• Prescribe medications, including chemotherapy and supportive care treatments, within the scope of practice.
• Provide symptom management and supportive care, including pain, nausea, fatigue, and emotional distress.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, side effects, and preventive measures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
• Document all patient interactions accurately and in a timely manner in the EMR.
• Assist in clinical trials and research activities as applicable.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
